In 2017, the Cape Peninsula Organisation for the Aged (CPOA) once again enlisted Design Monarchy’s help with the interior refurbishment of one of their luxury retirement venues. This Venue is situated in one of Cape Town’s many leafy upmarket suburbs, where sprawling luxurious mansions are plentiful. Located in the beautiful suburb of Constantia, Constantia Place Retirement Village is a sought after, upmarket residence. The Village itself consists of Cape Dutch Styled cottages, tree-lined avenues and lush gardens.
The venue has two guest cottages that serve as additional, short-term guest accommodation for residents’ family and friends. While the interiors of both these cottages were quite outdated and dark, the space had immense potential. We were tasked by the CPOA to assist with this interior upgrade. Furthermore, we had to ensure that the guest cottages reflect the luxury nature of the venue.
Our brief, as received from the Chief Procurement Officer, was to source, select, procure and install all furniture, soft furnishing, fabrics, wallpapers and art for the cottages. Like with the other projects we have undertaken for CPOA, the Procurement Manager set the pace with a very specific colour palette. This fabric scheme included tones of fresh blues and soft sand.
It is always such a thrill to look back at the successfully completed project. Not only did we meet the brief, but we were able to present the client with two guest suites that featured entertaining interior elements, yet was restful and understated.
