Mrs Ward is a regular client of Design Monarchy and we have been privileged to work with her on various phases of her East London farmhouse interior upgrade in the past. Buying a house in Gonubie, East London (along the East Coast of South Africa) brought a totally new dynamic and opportunity for her to create an interior space that could reveal her personal expansion and vibrant personality. Mrs Ward tasked Design Monarchy to turn her new property into a quirky colourful home.
She has a distinct eye for good fashion co-ordination and colour, always adding hints of daring glitz and glamour. Our brief for the Riverside Place residence was to create a space that took its lead from Scandinavian-styled interiors, while seamlessly weaving into it strong splashes of colour and contemporary freshness.
Mrs Ward wanted to include some vintage pieces of furniture and her brief was to use paint and colour to allow them to flow naturally into the uncluttered yet playful elements of the interior finishes.
There was a great deal of renovation and building upgrades that had to be done which meant that our scope of works included the complete redesign of the kitchen, scullery, entrance hall and bathrooms. For those areas we did the space planning, sourcing of all hard finishes and procurement thereof. The processes involved in the sourcing, selecting and procurement of all the soft furnishings and furniture was such a playful and fun exercise with Mrs Ward.
We know that Mrs Ward fully appreciates her new suburbia home and she went to great lengths to have the garden completely revamped into a quirky outdoor living area. One which is so entertaining and fully integrates her interior and exterior spaces!
Projects like these just make our creative work so rewarding.
