Summerley Court Retirement Village

John White, Owner, Creative Director and Chief Consultant of LifeTides Retirement Specialists, briefed Design Monarchy on behalf Property Developers, Kaikoura Capital.  John had very specific interior concepts and ideas that he had nurtured for this Retirement Venue, considered to be one of the best in terms of luxury retirement living in Cape Town’s leafy Southern Suburbs.

The brief was to work within the confines of the Summerley brand colours of green and lilac, to make it light, fresh, contemporary classic style that could remain timeless and age appropriate for the residents. We were tasked with space, floor and furniture layouts, sourcing, selecting, and procurement and installation management of all soft furnishings for the public areas. Those included all the offices, boardroom, reception, Frail Care lounge and library.

One of the strong features of this amazing building, which was so passionately restored and upgraded, is the addition of the 6th Floor, where the dining room, bar and residents lounge is positioned – a room with a view worth paying for.  Clever use of the different tones of the branded colour scheme saw us creating what could be termed a space that almost seamlessly blended interior and exterior nuances.

This project like so many others evolved on from the initial brief going on to include the design of their 6th floor bar facility.
